Shortwood United resign from EVO-STIK South West after losing major sponsor

Shortwood United will resign from the EVO-STIK South West at the end of the season, it has been confirmed by the league.
The Woods, who reached the FA Cup first round in 2013/14, have lost a major sponsor and won’t be able to raise the necessary funds to continue at their current level.
Shortwood are currently 19th, eight points above the relegation zone.
A statement by the league read: “It is with deep regret that Shortwood United FC has tendered its resignation from the League effective from the conclusion of the 2017/18 season.

“Owing to the level of financial commitment required at Step 4 and the fact that the Club’s major sponsor income has been lost going forward, the difficult decision has been made by the Club.
“The League wishes Shortwood United FC the very best for the future and hopes to see them again before too long.”
