Relief for Nuneaton Town fans as winding up petition is dismissed

The High Court have confirmed this morning that a winding up petition brought against Nuneaton Town by HMRC has been dismissed.
The winding up order was issued yesterday after Boro Leisure Limited (the company who own the club) did not file their accounts on time for the financial year ending June 2017.
The news will undoubtedly come as a huge relief to fans of the National League North club who would have feared the potentially damaging implications of the order.
Whilst the club have not officially commented on the issue, a statement on the Nuneaton Town Supporters Co-operative Twitter account read: “The Co-operative have been informed by the football club chairman that the winding up order against the club was addressed a few weeks ago and the order has been dismissed. As per previous statements, we seek to meet the club to discuss matters and how we can support the club.”
Nuneaton have had a solid season on the field this year, with Gary Charles’ side currently sitting in 13th position in the National League North table. The Boro will be hoping to improve on last season’s 12th place finish when they face Blyth Spartans in their final game of the season this weekend.
