Stevenage sign Stockport County midfielder James Ball for five figure fee

James Ball has agreed to sign with League Two side Stevenage for a five figure fee from Stockport County.
The 22-year-old midfielder, who was under contract at the Hatters until May 2019, has landed a Football League move after a stellar season at Edgeley Park where he scored 11 goals as County reached the National League North play-offs.
“I am absolutely delighted,” James said. “I look forward to getting started and trying to help the team achieve our goals.
“I want to be a big player for the club and I can’t wait to show the supporters what I am all about.”
Ball joined the Hatters in September 2016 after a brief spell with Stalybridge Celtic.  He had previously played under Stockport manager Jim Gannon at Northwich Vics, helping them to reach the Second Round of the FA Cup and a play-off final.
He scored on his debut for County and was second top scorer for the Hatters in 2016/17 with eight goals. Signed until May 2019.
