Hartlepool United have moved to bring in midfielder Luke Williams.
The 25-year-old was on the books at League One club Scunthrope last season but has been without a side since leaving Glanford Park this summer.
Williams, who has been training with Hartlepool over the last few weeks, previously enjoyed a successful loan spell with Pools in 2014, netting twice in seven appearances.
The midfielder came through the youth ranks at Middlesbrough and become the youngest player to take to the field for the club in over 100 years when he made his first team debut in in 2009 aged just 16 years and 200 days.
Williams left the Riverside for Scunthorpe in 2015, where he went on to score seven goals in 46 appearances for The Iron.
