Gavin Skelton

Gavin Skelton has sensationally quit as manager of Workington after just six days in the post.
Skelton resigned just minutes after the club’s 1-1 draw at Stafford Rangers on Saturday in only his second game in charge, much to the surprise of the club’s board and fans.
His other match in charge of the Reds was a 2-1 home defeat to Stalybridge Celtic on New Year’s Day.
The 37-year-old left his role at Carlisle United to return to Borough Park for his second spell in charge on December 31, having previously been at the club as player-manager in the 2014-15 season.
The club sit second bottom of the Northern Premier League, eight points adrift of safety.
In a statement, the club said: “His decision came as a shock to the Board of directors, who felt they had appointed the right man to take the club forward.
“Chairman, John Mackay, worked tirelessly over the Christmas period to negotiate his release from Carlisle United, and was understandably disappointed by the news.
“The Board had structured a full-time post for Skelton, which would have seen him combine his managerial duties with the community side of the club.
“The directors will review the situation over the next few days and remain grateful to Lee Andrews as he continues to lead the first team as he has throughout what has been a difficult period for all concerned.”
Lee Andrews will be in charge of team affairs for the remainder of the season with the assistance of Steven Rudd,
Workington travel to Gainsborough Trinity on Saturday.
