Gloucester City appoint Mike Cook as manager

Gloucester City have appointed Mike Cook as their new manager following the sacking of Chris Todd last week.
The National League South side find themselves in a relegation battle after a 17-game winless run.
The Tigers have wasted little time in finding Todd’s replacement with Cook having previously worked at the club as assistant manager to Chris Burns.
The former Coventry City and Cambridge United youngster retired from professional football with a spinal injury at 22, moving into coaching with Cambridge and later as part of Cheltenham Town’s community programme.
Cook, 50, has previously managed Cinderford Town between 2004 and 2006 and the 50-year-old inherits a side currently second-bottom and four points from safety.
In a back-room reshuffle, he is joined by former City striker Andy Hoskins who has become forwards coach, Karl Bayliss will look after player recruitment with Mike Green and Tom Web becoming defensive and midfield coaches respectively.
Cook said: ”I’m delighted to return to Gloucester City. I cannot wait to get started and hope to see as many supporters as possible at Evesham on Saturday.”
Club director Alex Petheram added: “We’re delighted to announce that Mike Cook is the new manager at Gloucester City AFC. Mike brings with him a wealth of football knowledge, experience and most of all, he knows what Gloucester City is all about.
“He understands the club, the area and we believe he has what it takes to get us out of the position we currently find ourselves in.”
