What’s the state of play in the NPL?

Farsley Celtic win at Scarborough, South Shields stay top and North Ferriby lose out again

What’s the

Farsley Celtic came out on top in the promotion six pointer against Scarborough Athletic on Saturday. Goals from James Spencer and Dave Syers were enough to give Celtic an emphatic victory at the Flamingo Land Stadium.
The result saw the visitors rise to third place in the table, just three points off the summit, while Scarborough lost ground on the leaders in fifth.
South Shields maintained their extraordinary 100% home record this season to keep their place at the top of the table, after breezing past Whitby Town in a 5-2 victory.
Nantwich Town kept themselves firmly in the promotion race, with an extremely well fought victory at Dave Frecklington’s Matlock Town, who have dropped off the pace in recent weeks.
Gainsborough Trinity’s play-off hopes took a hit after they could only muster a 1-1 draw at home to lowly Stafford Rangers.
At the bottom of the table, basement club North Ferriby United put up a sterling effort and were unfortunate to come out as the losing side after falling to a 2-1 defeat at home to Basford United.
The result leaves the all but relegated Ferriby ten points adrift at the foot of the table.
Meanwhile, the crunch relegation clash between 21st place Workington and 20th place Mickleover Sports was frustratingly postponed.
