We take a look at last weekend’s National League team of the day…
Goalkeeper
Ross Worner (Sutton United) – The former Charlton shot stopper produced a string of brilliant saves to keep Gary Hill’s in-form Ebbsfleet at bay as Sutton dramatically snatched what could prove to be a vital three points.
Defenders
Sam Hird (Barrow) – The 31-year-old put in a man of the match performance to keep out John Sheridan’s Chesterfield as The Blues came away from the Proact Stadium with a hard earned point.
Mike Williamson (Gateshead) – Despite dividing his time between the pitch and the dugout, the player-coach has continued to remain a crucial part of the Heed’s squad and was on hand to help Ben Clark to a draw in his first game in charge at the International Stadium.
Jamie Turley (Leyton Orient) – The high flying O’s eased to a comfortable 3-0 win over relegation threatened Maidstone at the weekend. Turley helped Orient to yet another clean sheet, while also providing the assist as Jordan Maguire-Drew broke the deadlock mid-way through the first half.
Manny Onariase (Dagenham & Redbridge) – The towering center-back performed brilliantly as the Daggers were almost caught out be a seemingly resurgent Aldershot on Saturday, Onariase helped to keep the Shots attackers at bay as Dagenham finished off with a somewhat fortunate point.
Midfielders
Mark Yeats (Eastleigh) – The veteran midfielder rolled back the years to help Eastleigh to a a dramatic 1-0 win on the road against Bromley. With just two minutes left on the clock at Hayes Lane, Yeates produced a brilliant delivery from the right, which was headed home by Andrew Boyce.
Cameron King (FC Halifax) – The Sheymen were able to hold promotion chasing Salford to a point, thanks in no small part to the sterling display from former Scotland Under 21 international King. The 23-year-old pulled the strings in the Halifax midfield all afternoon and created an opening after beating three men and playing a lovely one-two with Matty Kosylo but was eventually denied by a strong piece of Salford defending.
Andreas Robinson (Havant & Waterlooville) Havant and Dover played out a stalemate on Saturday afternoon but Robinson was the stand out figure on the pitch. The former Southampton man defended brilliantly throughout and put his body on the line to provide a crucial block to deny Jai Reason in the first half.
Strikers
Nicke Kabamba (Hartlepool) – The frontman has made an impressive start to life with Hartlepool and he was on hand to net a leveller against Braintree on Saturday. Kabamba scored his second goal in as many games as he dived low to meet a Danny Amos cross.
Danny Rowe (AFC Fylde) – The National League’s top goalscorer was amongst the goals once again Fylde pulled off a stunning win at promotion rivals Solihull Moors. Rowe found the net twice in the second half to extent his tally for the season to 21. David Challoner will be hoping that Rowe’s form does not tempt a Football League club into a late January swoop.
Rekeil Pyke (Wrexham) – The recalled striker was the star of the show as Wrexham looked to regain their early season form with a narrow win over Maidenhead. Although Pyke did not get on the score sheet, he was a thorn in the side of the visitors all afternoon, making countless surges into the final third.
