York City bring in David Mirfin

The experienced defender has made over 450 Football League appearances in his career so far.

York City have looked to boost their hopes of avoiding a shock relegation from the National League North by signing experienced defender David Mirfin on loan from Mansfield Town until the end of the season.
The 33-year-old center-back has made over 450 Football League appearances for the likes of  Huddersfield Town, Scunthorpe United, and Watford.
The Sheffield born defender started his career at Huddersfield and helped the Terriers win promotion from the old Division Three.
He joined Scunthorpe in summer 2008 and played a major role in the Iron’s promotion and subsequent survival in the Championship.
After a brief spell at Watford, Mirfin returned to Scunthorpe for a further five years in January 2012 and won promotion to League One in 2014.
The defender joined the Stags 18 months ago and has featured in the first team at Field Mill on 14 occasions so far this season.
Mirfin will go straight into the York’s squad for tomorrow’s Vanarama National League North game at Alfreton Town.
