A look ahead to tonight’s National League action…

After passing the mid point of February, it is fair to say that we are approaching the sprint finish of the season, with teams across the Non-League pyramid limbering up for a grandstand finish at both ends of the table. 
This evening will see a crucial night of action in the National League take place with five fixtures taking place.
Since moving into the hot seat at Wrexham on the 6th of February, Bryan Hughes has enjoyed a superb start to life in charge.
The former Chartlon midfielder has guided the Dragons to wins over Dagenham & Redbridge and Havant & Waterlooville, while plenty of Wrexham’s title challengers have slipped up.
This run of results has seen Hughes’ side rise to second in the table, just two points behind league leaders Solihull Moors but with a crucial game in hand.
The Dragons will be looking to pick up another three points at Boreham Wood this evening.
After coming to within 90 minutes of reaching the Football League last season, Luke Garrard’s side have suffered a stuttering campaign so far and are currently sitting in 15th position after falling to a crushing 4-0 defeat at home to Hartlepool on Saturday.
The Hertfordshire based club will come into tonight’s game having not one in their last eight matches.
Barnet provided one of the surprises of last weekend when they held Tim Flowers’ league leaders to a point.
In fact the Bees were within seconds of holding on for a superb victory, only for Kyle Storer to power home a last gasp equalizer.
Barnet will be hoping to pull off another result tonight when they entertain play-off chasing Sutton United at the Hive Stadium.
Paul Doswell’s Sutton side beat Barnet just two weeks ago but may have lost a bit of confidence during an uncharacteristically poor showing in a 1-0 loss at home to Barrow last time out.
At Mill Farm, AFC Fylde will be looking to close the gap between themselves and the top three when they face Havant  & Waterlooville. 
Dave Challinor’s side fell to a disappointing defeat at home to Chesterfield on Saturday and will be determined to return to form, in what is quickly becoming a crucial point of the season.
After gaining promotion from the National League South last year, Havant  & Waterlooville have battled well as they attempt to retain their Step 1 status.
However, after Saturday’s narrow loss to Wrexham, they find themselves two points adrift of safety with Dover Athletic currently holding onto the coveted 20th position.
Whilst we are on the topic of relegation, FC Halifax travel to Maidstone United in what could be considered a six pointer at the foot of the table.
Jamie Fullarton’s Halifax side are currently just two points above the drop zone after failing to record a win in their last eight league games.
This evening offers the perfect opportunity for the Shaymen to reverse this statistic as they face a Maidstone outfit who have slipped to eight points adrift of safety with time quickly running out.
Finally, Hartlepool will be looking to continue their free scoring form tonight against an Ebbsfleet side who still have half an eye on the play-offs after recording a superb 2-1 win at early season pace setters Harrogate Town at the weekend.
