STRIKER Darren Stephenson has left Southport and dropped down two divisions to join Chorley.

The 19-year-old enjoyed a very fruitful spell on loan with the Magpies earlier this season – scoring six times in eight games for the Northern Premier League Premier Division side.

A deal has now been struck so the former Bradford City youngster remains at Victory Park on a permanent basis.

Stephenson’s next game for the Magpies is likely to come this weekend when the travel to Ilkeston FC, who lie five places below them in 14th.
