Matlock star makes Premier League move

Matlock Town defender Ashton Hall has become the latest Non-League talent to secure a dream move to the Football League after he completed a move to Sheffield United.
Hall joined the Gladiators about two and a half years ago and was made captain of the academy side as a first year student.
The 18-year-old defender also played for Matlock Town reserves in the CMFL and again was again handed the armband, helping the club win the Derbyshire Divisional Cup.
Hall trained regularly with the first team before signing his first contract on October 2018 and made a number of appearances in the NPL Premier Division, which attracted scouts from EFL clubs to show an interest in his capabilities.
The young talent had trials at Leeds United before enjoying a 2-week assessment at Sheffield United before the Blades opted to sign him on.
Matlock Town endured a topsy turvy season in the Northern Premier League last season, enduring a disastrous start to the campaign before Dave Frecklington came in to steady the ship before the turn of the year.
Nevertheless, despite a superb start to life at the club, the former Gainsborough boss struggled for results towards the end of the season and has since been replaced by Steve Kittrick.
