After eight months out of the game following his shock dismissal from Curzon Ashton, John Flanagan is back in football having joined the coaching staff at his former club Mossley.
During his seven year stint at the Thameside Stadium, Flanagan took Curzon to two promotions, guiding the club to Step 2, the highest ever level that they had ever operated at.
At the time of his departure last November, The Nash were sitting four points above the drop zone and just seven away from a much sought after play-off position, whilst operating on a relatively modest budget.
The experienced boss now joins a Mossley side who finished in 8th place in the NPL West division last season, where he will provide invaluable assistance to current boss David Wild ahead of the new campaign.
Flanagan is well accustomed to the Greater Manchester club having previously spent almost three years with the Lillywhites .
Between 2008 and 2010, Flanagan acted as assistant to then manager Chris Willcock before stepping up to the main role in January 2010.
During his four months in charge at Seel Park. Flanagan oversaw a remarkable upturn in form as he helped to move the side up from 16th position all the way to 7th, before tendering his resignation due to work commitments.
Before turning his hand to coaching, Flanagan also enjoyed a distinguished playing career, which saw him represent the likes of Stockport County, Hyde United, Stalybridge Celtic and Droylsden.
