Darlington sign striker Adam Campbell

Darlington

The Quakers have completed the signing of striker Adam Campbell.
The 24-year old was released on a free by Morecambe at the end of season 2018/19 and hopes to relaunch his career at Darlington.
Campbell is well-known as the youngest player to play for Newcastle in a European league, the Englishman was only 17 when he played for the Magpies in the Europa League.
After several loan spells at Hartlepool United and Gateshead among others, he joined Notts County in 2015 and stayed at Meadow Lane for two seasons.
The Darlington manager, Alun Armstrong, is delighted with the acquisition and said: “Adam is one of those players I am looking for who is wanting to prove a point and get back into the professional game.”
Although Campbell is dropping a few leagues and is going to play only part-time, the Englishman is looking forward to working with a manager who believes in him and is excited to be playing regular football once again.
Campbell has mostly been playing as a winger but Alun Armstrong has promised he will be playing as a number nine at Darlington.
The transfer is an investment for both the club and the player with Campbell hoping to relaunch his career and aims to reach the professional level again.
Darlington signed the player for free and hopes to sell him for the right fee if the 24-year old can show he can play professional football.
Seeing that a lot of players are struggling to get their transfer pushed trough in this summer of discontent, Campbell is a happy camper having found a club who will use him on his favourite position.
