Footballer-turned-boxer Curtis Woodhouse quits Taddy for Gainsborough Trinity

The former British Light Welterweight champion, pictured, replaced Liam King on Tuesday after standing down at Tadcaster Albion.
Woodhouse, 39, will be assisted by Martin Foster after his number two at Taddy also made the switch to Northolme.
King, 31, took over in February in a caretaking role following the sacking of management duo Lee Sinnott and John Reed.
After being unable to keep the club in National League North, they departed after 5-0 home defeat at the hands of Farsley Celtic.
King is staying on to help Woodhouse in a coaching capacity at struggling Trinity, currently second-from-bottom in the NPL’s Premier Division.
UEFA A coach Woodhouse left the Brewers second in the NPL’s North West Division after a short but successful spell since returning to the game in the summer to take the helm.
Woodhouse enjoyed a highly distinguished playing career, playing over 350 games for Sheffield United, Birmingham City, Rotherham United, Peterborough United, Hull City and Grimsby Town. He captained every club apart from the Blues.
Since taking to the touchline, he has also managed Sheffield FC, Goole, Hull United and Bridlington  as well as enjoyed a coaching stint at Lincoln City during David Holdsworth’s reign at Sincil Bank.
A statement from Gainsborough Trinity read: “We would like to place on record our gratitude to Liam and Ross for stepping into the breach last February, and though things haven’t worked out for them this season, in terms of results, feel that both can still contribute massively to the football club going forward.

Tadcaster Albion have named ex-York City goalkeeper Michael Ingham and Steve Waide as caretaker managers fo their West Riding County Cup tie against Goole on Tuesday night.
Woodhouse and Foster were also thanked for their services by Tadcaster as they started their hunt for a new manager..
A statement read: “We wish to place on record our thanks for what Curtis and Martin have done for the club in their short time with us. Further details on the vacant manager’s position will be made in due course.”
