Chesterfield announce groundshare deal with Sheffield United Women

National League Chesterfield are looking forward to a welcome cash injection after Sheffield United Women move into the Proact Stadium this weekend.
Running until the end of the season, the groundshare with the FA Women’s Championship side was announced on Tuesday will kick off on Sunday when the Blades host Durham.

The Proact already feels like a second home for the Blades with the Premier League club’s U23s playing there.
Carla Ward’s United side are currently third in the second-tier of the women’s game, three points off the top after seven outings.
The Spireites say Chesterfield FC Women are also set to play a number of their matches at the Proact this season and will take on the club’s new guests in a preseason friendly.
Chesterfield FC Women’s first team manager Mike Noon said: “It is a significant development for women’s football in the town for the Proact to be hosting FA Women’s Championship matches.
“For us to be able to play some of our games at the stadium is an exciting prospect and shows just how the official link-up with the club is helping us to develop.”
Blades chairman Prince Musa’ad said: “The Proact is a fantastic venue and the facilities that are available to us are magnificent. We are indebted to Chesterfield Football Club for their assistance.”
United Women’s manager Carla Ward added: “The Proact Stadium has hosted international football, as well as matches at EFL and National League level, so the facilities will be perfect for us and hopefully we can continue our impressive form in the FA Women’s Championship.”
According to a Chesterfield statement, Sheffield United and Chesterfield season tickets holders can see Sunday’s fixture for free with all other fans paying £1.
The Spireites lost 3-2 at home to bottom-of-the-table Chorley in the National League on Saturday.
