A CAPTAIN’S contribution was the only moment to savour in what could easily have been a bore draw.
A first half with no chances, no entertainment and no inspiration left many thinking this would be a long afternoon.
But Steven Schumacher roused the Impact for the final half hour with an unstoppable first-time strike to open the scoring.
The ball was layed off to the edge of the area, allowing the skipper to hit an exceptional curling effort into the top corner.
Alfreton’s response was brief and ineffective, with half-chances rushed.
