WALTHAM ABBEY had Christian Assombalonga and Danelle Russell to thank as the hosts secured victory over Grays Athletic.
It was the away side who broke the deadlock when Athletic’s Kieran Bishop continued his fine run of form to bag the opener.
But shortly after the break, Waltham were awarded a penalty for a push in the area and Assombalonga coolly converted.
Athletic had their own penalty shout before Russell gave the 114-strong home crowd something to cheer about when he netted the winner.
