AFC FYLDE’S class ultimately told, as Mark Yeates and Danny Rowe inspired the Coasters to an opening day victory, but they were pushed all the way by Danny Searle’s rejuvenated Shots.
The title favourites appeared to be cruising to a comfortable win thanks to the National League’s creator-in-chief and most prolific scorer, but Connor Shields earned Aldershot Town a deserved route back into the game which could have snatched a point.
