LEISTON won their first league match in 23 attempts, beating a determined Hitchin.
The Blues had a great chance to take the lead in the sixth minute as Rob Eagle centred for Louie Bloom but he put his shot wide from eight yards.
However, the did strike first, on 14 minutes when a through ball by Louie Bloom released Will Davies, who finished coolly.
Midway through the half, Siju Odelusi headed in Joshua Hitter’s corner. But Hitchin did pull a goal back as Stephen Cawley was al- lowed to head home from a corner.
