MARGATE captain Reece Prestedge was sent off as Worthing held on to a victory which moves them up to second in the table.
The hosts took the lead in the 15th minute when striker Callum Kealy’s left-footed shot from the edge of the box found the bottom corner.
Ricky Aguiar blasted over before Margate keeper Joseph Tupper saved from Marvin Armstrong and Kealy as Worthing threatened to extend their lead.
Margate forward Kadell Daniel squandered a gilt-edged opportunity to equalise two minutes before half-time, blasting over the bar from six yards.
