A JAMES REID freekick was enough to secure a hard-earned 1-0 victory for Basford United at home to Morpeth.
Basford came into the game off the back of an impressive 3-2 victory away to Stalybridge and were looking to keep up their run of good form.
Morpeth started the game the stronger of the two teams, dominating possession and causing problems with their crosses.
One of the crosses created the first big chance of the game whwhen Chris Reid heading against the post following a slip from Dom Roma.
