O’FLAHERTY SAVES THE DAY IN LATE EXCITEMENT

MATT Paterson’s late goal earned Gosport Borough a draw against Merthyr Town.
In the first half, Gosport controlled the game, with debutant Lerone Plummer giving Boro’ the lead after chipping the ball over goalkeeper Alex Harris.
The rest of the half was evenly contested between the two teams, with tempers flaring.
In the 51st minute, Gosport had the chance to double their lead when Rory Williams’ shot was blocked by Harris but fell to Charlie Kennedy, who dragged his shot wide.
