PERHAPS football’s unlikeliest rags-to-potential riches story began when Paul Pickford was down on his luck and living in a hostel.
The recovering alcoholic, now 42, was one of 20 residents whom he never saw and his curiosity led to him forming the football club.
He explains: “The kitchen was spotless and I was told the others never came out until night time. So I knocked on all their doors, bought a football and invited them for a kickabout on a local field.
