AS the Tyneside birds tweeted, the 16-or-so weary-eyed players and staff climbed aboard the team coach. The clock struck 5am as we set off from the Gateshead International Stadium for another mammoth trek.
Whether it be the long hike to the south coast to play Eastleigh or battling the M25 heading for Sutton United, the days of overnight stays were sadly long gone. This is how we did things now.
