■ HANWELL kicked off the new campaign with a closely fought win over local rivals Bedfont thanks to inspirational skipper Dwayne Duncan’s only goal of the game.
Both sides were guilty of not making the most of their chances in an even first period.
Gianni Crichlow forced a great save from Dimitrios Kiriatzis in the 68th minute and it was fitting that, from the resulting Joel Jacobs corner, captain Dwayne Duncan, who had been oustanding in a resolute defence, got to the ball first and scored.
