TOBY ANDREWS scored a second-half winner as Soham saw off Heybridge by the narrowest of margins.
The Greens started the brighter and created an early opportunity for Lewis Clayton, whose header went over.
Chances were far and far between for much of the first period, but Heybridge had an early sight of goal early after the break when Jacob Marsden saw his shot saved by Josh Pope.
After 53 minutes, Soham won a free-kick near the corner flag. Whipped in by Ryan Auger, it was eventually drilled into the bottom corner by Andrews.
