FIRST-HALF goals from Luke Brown and Marcus Gouldbourne fired Hitchin to a first win since the opening day, resisting a Stratford comeback.
Stratford goalkeeper Tyrell Belford was fortunate not to be sentoff inside two minutes for hauling down Alex Marsh, but rose to save Layne Eadie’s penalty. Belford blocked Ryan Smith’s low shot, but Hitchin were ahead after 12 minutes as Marsh found Brown on the edge of the box to stroke into the corner.
