Skem aim to free shackles

PAUL MCNALLY is praying that Skelmersdale United will get the chance to live out their cup dream – and rewrite the history books all over again.
Not since Newcastle Town in 1996 has a club from the North West Counties League reached this stage of the FA Cup, with the club itself enjoying its best run for 48 years. McNally’s Skem came through a tough tie against league rivals Longridge Town on Tuesday night to continue as the lowest-ranked team in the competition.
And their reward is a trip to Step 3 NPL side Stafford Rangers for a chance to mix it with the big boys ...
