DEAN THEXTON and Jack Vaulks grabbed second-half goals to take Shildon safely into the third round against their spirited hosts.
The visitors, from a step higher in the pyramid survived a few scares and were kept at bay until the 51st minute by the heroics of Hallam keeper Sam Andrew.
But once Thexton broke the deadlock, the visitors took charge,
securing safe passage with a second 20 minutes from time.
