WHELPDALE’S DOUBLE GLEE

A GRITTY and determined display by Eastbourne Borough saw them gain a thoroughly deserved win over a strangely lacklustre Havant side.
The omens for the home side looked bad after only five minutes when Chris Whelpdale netted with a superb header from a Greg Luer cross, but unfortunately for the Sports it was ruled offside.
Eastbourne dominated the half and it was no surprise when they took the lead 10 minutes from the interval. Charlie Kendall ran on to a James Ferry through-ball to fire across goal and Whelpdale gleefully turned it in.
