STAYING: Luke Duffy

WARRINGTON Town boss Paul Carden is beginning to mould his squad for a crack at the Northern Premier League title.

Striker Jordan Buckley, midfielder Luke Duffy and defender Eddie Clarke re-signed for 2021-22 ahead of the start of pre-season training this weekend.

Duffy signed from North West Counties side Lower Breck last summer, having impressed against the Yellows in a pre-season friendly, and scored two goals in ten outings before coronavirus put an end to the season.

Former Tranmere left-back Clarke made his debut as a half-time substitute in the Yellows’ last league game, a defeat to FC United in early November.

Buckley joined from FC United part-way through the 2019-20 season.

Town have also confirmed a list of player departures. Winger Jack Mackreth has signed an 18-month deal at Welsh Premier League side Bala Town, while Jack Dunn has joined National League North side Curzon Ashton.

Midfielder Charlie Munro is set to join National League North side Southport and defender Callum Grogan has opted to return to his former club Radcliffe.

Goalkeeper Charlie Albinson and veteran midfielder Michael Rose have also departed. Loanee Scott Brown returned to parent club Harrogate Town.

The Yellows were fourth when last season’s campaign was cut short, albeit they had only played nine games. Carden’s troops will be expected to be up among the front-runners again in the coming season.

Town have pencilled in ten pre-season friendlies to get in shape, including attractive home games against Southport (Aug 3) and Chorley (Aug 7).
