■ HADLEIGH United held their nerve to win a tense penalty shoot-out after 90 minutes had failed to see either defence breached at Wadham Lodge.
The game was a story of near misses. In the fourth minute, a right-wing cross from Connor Scully was turned onto his own crossbar by a Hadleigh defender, and the rebound landed his side of the goal line.
Dan Hammett crashed a powerful drive against the Walthamstow bar in the second half, while, at the other end, Yemi Adelani saw a header also hit the bar.
