BILLERICAY progressed from a tight Essex derby, kick-starting their season with a first victory in all competitions.
The visitors started well as Darren Foxley set up Joe Felix for a shot just wide – the pair would be prominent throughout.
But the Iron took the lead after 16 minutes as Femi Akinwande chased a through ball from Arjanit Krasniqi and was fouled in the box by Laurie Wilson. Akinwande fired the spot kick into the corner giving Bailey Vose no chance.
