■ CITY of Liverpool picked up a deserved point from a stalemate with Trafford.
Michael Ellison’s Purps were boosted by an accomplished and composed performance from debutant keeper Danny Taberner, who commanded his box and produced a string of excellent saves.
Taberner had already produced an excellent stop to deny Connor Hughes and then watched a long-range effort from Curtis Miller cannon back off a post towards him. The keeper had the wherewithal to smother the loose ball as it flew towards him on the deck.
