■CLITHEROE dominated for most of the game, but were left hanging on at the end by a Widnes fightback.
The first half was all Clitheroe, with Widnes’s keeper Owen Wheeler in superb form. Zack Clarke opened the scoring after pushing the ball past the full-back, cutting inside and driving home.
Five gilt-edged chances fell Clitheroe’s way, mainly to Sefton Gonzales, but it was defender Harrison Burke who extended the lead.
