OLD WULFS THROUGH AFTER 44 PENALTIES!

A CUP TIE between West Midlands teams has set an English record for the number of penalties in a shoot-out.
It took no fewer than 44 spot-kicks by Wolverhampton team Old Wulfrunians and Bloxwich side Lane Head to settle the first round JW Hunt Cup tie after they had drawn 3-3. Old Wulfs won the shootout 19-18.
Previous highest was 34 in an EFL Trophy clash between Chelsea under-23s and Oxford United and by Taunton Town and Truro City in a Southern League Challenge Cup game.
The world record is 48 when KK Palace beat Civic 17-16 in a Namibian Cup tie.
