PAUL COX will not be the next manager of AFC Telford United.

The National League North Bucks formally approached Kettering Town to speak to their 49-year-old manager.

But he has decided to stay with the Poppies, leaving Telford to turn their attentions eleswhere.

Cox said: “Good things are happening at the club. We have always spoken of a five-year plan that targets success and growth, on and off the pitch, and off course I want to be part of that.”

Cox, who won the Conference title with Mansfield Town in 2013 having also topped the NPL Premier division with Eastwood Town in his first job, has reinvigorated Kettering this season.

Ahead of yesterday’s postponed game with Southport they were just outside the play-offs.

Cox took a break from the game when he left Guiseley in 2018 but recently spoke of feeling refreshed in his Kettering challenge, where he is non-contract.

That has alerted a number of clubs this season and Kettering are keen to nail him down to a contract.

Meanwhile, Dennis Greene will remain in interim charge of Telford.

The former Boston United boss has brought in Blackpool’s Cameron Antwi and Stoke City’s Tom Sparrow on loan.
