WELWYN reached the second round proper for the second successive season, when they overpowered Carshalton Athletic of the Isthmian Premier with a tremendous second-half showing.
Things didn’t look promising in the early stages of the tie, when the Southern League Div 1 Central side fell behind in the seventh minute – Jordan Cheadle struck a free-kick through the defensive wall, with the ball flicking off a home defender to beat keeper Charlie Crowley.
