Dorset Premier League Update February 9

WINCANTON TOWN remained in the top four of the Dorset Premier League with a 4-0 win over Hamworthy Recreation.

Matthew Chant netted twice in the first half before Luke Stevens and Daniel Golden wrapped up the win with second-half strikes.

Chickerell United picked up their tenth win of the campaign by beating Bridport Reserves 2-0, Joshua Why grabbing both goals. The Chicks are fifth after the victory.

Weymouth Reserves remain eighth following a 2-2 draw at Cranborne.

Sean Zima and Ben Doige were on target for Weymouth, while Nick Day scored twice in the final 15 minutes for the Crances.

Shaftesbury Town climbed up to ninth in the division with a 1-0 win over Hamworthy United Reserves, David Cull’s 65th-minute strike proving enough to separate the two sides.

Poole Borough won for the first time in 14 games when they beat Wareham Rangers 3-2.

Borough took the lead in the 18th minute through Shane Stanley before Aaron Merredew doubled their advantage on 74 minutes.

David Best pulled one back for Wareham two minutes later and Duane Hobbs leveled things up four minutes from time

However, Poole weren’t to be denied and Scott Parker snatched a winner in the final minute of the match.

Blandford United are up to 12th courtesy of a 3-2 win over Swanage Town & Herston.

Joe Well scored twice for United, while their third goal came from Luke Crane.

Holt United top the division following a 3-0 win at Merley Cobham Sports.

They are one point ahead of second place Portland United but have played three games more.
