YORK CITY are now just three wins from Wembley after overcoming Slough.
John Askey’s men had lost target man Mark Beck after his loan from Harrogate expired which allowed Clayton Donaldson a start in the middle of a front three.
And the veteran forward didn’t disappoint with a shot cleared off the goal line in the first few minutes followed by the opening goal on 19 minutes – the Jamaican making no mistake with his header following an early Sean Newton cross, nodding past Jonathan North and into the bottom corner.
