KAMIL CONTEH poked in the winner to secure the points for Braintree against ten-man Hungerford.
It was at times an awful game played in terrible conditions with wind, rain and hail all having an impact at some point.
The first half was an even affair until Duane Ofori-Acheampong got sent off for picking up a second yellow card after a challenge on Jay Porter.
With Hungerford down to ten, the home side could push forward but despite a lot of guff and puff chances were few and far between.
