North Shields midfielder Adam Forster knows a thing or two about making history with the Ebac Northern League club.

North Shields celebrate their Northern League title win

After all, it was Forster that scored the crucial goal when the Robins added their name to the list of North East clubs that have lifted the FA Vase with a 2-1 win over Glossop North End in 2015.

The tenacious midfielder is now seen as one of the more experienced members of the North Shields squad and has captained Marc Nash’s side throughout one of the most successful seasons in their history.

The Robins secured the Northern League title on Friday afternoon following a 3-1 win at Whitley Bay and celebrated becoming champions with a 4-2 win at West Allotment Celtic on Monday.

Forster played a key role in the celebrations as he became the first Robins skipper since Ronnie Tatum in 1969 to lift the Northern League championship trophy.

With the celebrations ongoing in the background, Forster revealed his pride over the achievement and described the “brilliant moment” he experienced in lifting the trophy in front of a vocal Robins support.

He said: “Not many of the lads here have won Division One and it’s not just about the players that have been here for years, it’s about those young lads in the squad too

“Winning Division One is a massive achievement for everyone at the club and we have all played a part in what has happened.

“It’s been a hard season and every single game has been a real challenge, especially with the fixtures we’ve had recently.

“Massive credit to all the boys and the management for it because it’s a great achievement.”

“We’ve got over the line and it’s just a brilliant moment to be the one to lift that trophy.”

North Shields will round off their title-winning season with a visit to West Auckland Town on Saturday afternoon.
