HUMBER MERGER SNUBBED

THE FA has blown the whistle on a proposed merger between Northern Counties East Division One side FC Humber United and Askern Miners.
The merger would have seen FC Humber undergo their fourth name chance since they were founded six years ago.
Originally known as AFC Rovers, they subsequently became East Yorkshire Carnegie and then East Hull.
As a result of the decision to block the merger, FC Humber chairman Richard Smales has stood down and given up his shareholding.
