DAVE IS DONE AT RYLANDS

FORMER Ashton United and Stafford Rangers boss Jody Banim has been appointed as caretaker manager of Warrington Rylands following the shock departure of Dave McNabb and his assistant Fraser Ablett.

Having first took charge as joint-manager with Stuart Wells in 2018, McNabb led the Blues to the North West Counties League First Division South title in his first year in charge.

He then took sole charge and led the team to two further promotions – from Step 5 to the NPL Premier Division at Step 3 – while also winning the FA Vase at Wembley in 2021.

The Blues have won three of their opening seven matches this season but the club decided to act after last weekend’s 4-0 FA Cup defeat to Hyde.

A Rylands statement said that McNabb and his management team had departed through mutual agreement.

“We would like to place on record our sincere thanks to Dave and his team for an unbelievable journey over the last 4½ years,” it said.

McNabb tweeted: “Never did I think we would have achieved what we have when I walked through the door in 2018.”
