BASILDON ended the match with ten men as they edged past Coggeshall.
They took a 14th-minute lead via the penalty spot, with Michael Salako smashing his kick into the roof of the net.
Rather than find a foothold in the game, the Seed Growers found themselves on the back foot for much of the half, although United failed to add to their lead.
The second-half played out much as it did in the first with Basildon unable to make their dominance count until Callum Fitzer found the target from the narrowest of angles to double their advantage.
