Step 3 Church caused the shock of the FA Cup first round by winning 2-1 at League One Cheltenham Town on Saturday, Danny Waldron’s double thrusting the Midlands village into the spotlight.
But there was no such fanfare for Tuesday’s Birmingham Senior Cup tie with Step 5 Darlaston Town as Long changed his entire XI, casting an eye over a pipeline of prospects from the club’s hybrid training programme.
