ON a frost-kissed pitch, VCD Athletic came out on top in a game lacking in clear-cut chances.
The Vickers took an early lead through a sixthminute header from Soul Kader.
Ashford pushed for an equaliser with the majority of the first-half possession, but the final ball was lacking.
Both sides applied pressure in a bitterly cold second half and VCD had a goal ruled out for offside in the 74th minute, but few clear goal-scoring chances were created by either side
and VCD concentrated on defending their lead.
