■ LOWESTOFT staved off a Basildon comeback to complete a narrow victory on the road.
The visitors scored against the run of play through Jake Reed in the eighth minute. He then doubled the lead ten minutes later when he scored a counter-attacking move.
After 26 minutes, Lowestoft made it 3-0 when a defensive mistake by a Basildon defender allowed Reed to complete his hat-trick.
Basildon made a lively start to the second half and they pulled a goal back after 71 minutes when Allen fired home with a great shot.
