■ VCD faced their second play-off chasing opponents in eight days as Hythe Town arrived at Oakwood on the hunt for valuable points.
Both sides attacked cautiously, VCD’s Drew Allassani slotting home from a Sam Williams through pass in the ninth minute.
Hythe continued with a long-ball approach, forcing VCD into a defensive position.
After half an hour Phillips, in the Hythe goal, was forced to sprint from his line to thwart VCD’s Sam Williams.
